Brianna Huddleston

I cannot begin to describe the journey my life has taken and where I have left art as evidence of where I've been. I was lucky enough to explore my creativity as a child by creating things out of copier paper, scotch tape, gel pens, cardboard, and school glue. This empirical way with whatever materials I could get my hands on led me to want to share my love of art with others. As I continued to learn about new materials, I am filled with ideas of how to share the experience with others.

 

My motivation behind learning about art and creating fringes on what I make my art about. I wish to share my thoughts and views with others as I become concerned with them. Beginning with the images of the children that I had the pleasure of being a part of their childhood. I saw them as eager learners the same way I approached art and provide an innocent eye on the world. This pushes me to look at things in a new light of virtuousness from landscapes to butterflies to odd patterns I find in the world. Finding these details and bringing attention to them help bring out an optimism that viewers deserve to see.

 

In contrast, my work took a turn as different events draw out my concern. There are too many threats to these optimistic subjects such as endangerment, human destruction, and lack of protection that I feel cannot go unaddressed. My eye and my art drift towards showing these struggles while keeping my quizzical outlook included.

I keep up with my wondering mind to the things that deserve to be seen and heard, while some good and others not so good. I find times of self-reflection within these periods and following themes of unexpected pattern, defined structure and fascinating details. The following pages provide an opportunity for the viewer to look and find their own connections to their life and the within the work itself.
